So the testing is done. Whoo Hoo! You can hear the party and commotion in the classrooms all around you. The kids are staring at you. "What are we gonna do today? " they ask. The admin says no movies. (You don't really like that one anyway.) In your mind every day counts and no day should be without some math. So what do you do?
Here are some Math ideas for End of Semester Fun!
1 Host a Math Game Day
Pull out all the favorites that your students have already played. Set up an area where they play online math games. Or play whole class games, such as Math Jeopardy!
This site helps you create your own Jeopardy games: Math Jeopardy Creator
This site has some of my favorite Math Games: Online Math Games by Grade and Skill
For extra fun award small prizes!
2. Lead the class in a Math Team Builder
You can find many team building ideas online. Here is a favorite of mine that is perfect for this time of year.
Unwrap the Present
3. Math Art/Music/Skit/Video Day
This works well when you have two days or a long class period. Assign the students to groups.
Write the big topics and/or skills you studied during the semester on index cards. Have students select a card and then create a poster, song, skit or video that demonstrates what they selected. When groups are finished they share their creations with the class. Make it extra special by providing a treat or allowing students to bring treats.
All three activities have two things in common.
